Nathaniel Bavinton

Dr Nathaniel Bavinton is an Associate Director at Urbis, and an urban sociologist and city strategist with 20 years’ experience researching, planning and implementing urban and social innovation.

He has a longstanding interest and influence in Newcastle’s urban revitalisation, with past roles include leading smart city, innovation, economy and sustainability at the City of Newcastle.

Nathaniel serves as Deputy Chair of Hunter iF, where he guides strategy and the ecosystem data initiative. He is also Chair of UDIA’s Resilience and Sustainable Development Committee and on the board of Australian Smart Communities Association.
