Reflecting on a fantastic discussion on the Hunter's Energy & Blue Economy Future!

A huge thank you to our expert panelists Emeritus Prof. Roy Green, Gunilla Burrowes FTSE HonFIEAust, Sarah Guilfoyle GAICD, and Dominic May for their invaluable insights, and to Hunter iF members for their engaging contributions!

The Hunter is poised to become a powerhouse in clean energy and the blue economy! Did you know... the Port of Newcastle's Clean Energy Precinct is projected to inject $4.2B into our region by 2040 and create ~5,800 jobs, diversifying our economy beyond coal alongside Orica's Hunter Hydrogen Hub partnerships & EnergyCo's Renewable Energy Zone (REZ).

We can foster Sovereign Capability by building local expertise and supply chains in key areas like offshore wind, marine engineering, and defence, ensuring national self-reliance and creating skilled jobs right here.

The potential of Blue Tech is immense, encompassing innovations like sustainable aquaculture, marine robotics, wave energy, and ocean sensors.

Untapped potential exists in new industries such as marine tourism, leveraging our beautiful coastline, Port connectivity, and natural assets.

Supporting research, technology, and sustainable business models in ocean resource use is crucial, utilising the valuable expertise of the University of Newcastle and the Blue Economy CRC.

The Hunter can position itself as a national leader in blue economy innovation and capability, attracting global attention and investment.

Let's establish a Blue Tech Living Lab in the Hunter to drive innovation in sustainable marine technologies!

And a special thank you to Hunter iF Chair Alex Brennan for welcoming us and sharing his insights into the opportunity that awaits the region! What an awesome introduction from Board members Sheron Steward and summary from Caroline Booth - so lucky to have these superstars diving in with us!
